Lookbook design contest with The Art Institute of NYC

Hello Dolls,

We had the opportunity to work on a design project/contest with students from the Art Institute of NY.  Their project was to redesign our look book for the upcoming Intimate Apparel Boutique Show NY.  It was such a rewarding and amazing experience! We were so impressed with the hard work and creative designs that came from the students.  In the end we could only choose one design, which was tough since all of the students really did a fabulous job.

The winning look book was from Arielle Gerdes.  Her beautiful illustrations really made an impact and showcased the line.

Why We Wear Shapers…

Well, the answer is pretty obvious—who doesn’t want to look svelter while wearing their most clingy dress? Just ask any starlet and we’re sure they’ll attest to the power of the shaper.

The problem with these garments is that they often look dowdy—like something you discovered in your grandmother’s dusty lingerie chest. And that certainly makes sense, since shapers are direct descendants of the girdle. But us Dolls don’t believe that one should ever have to settle for dreary lingerie.

We realized that the world of shapewear needed a dose of glamour after a dispiriting day of market research. We visited the shapewear sections at numerous department stores, trying on everything from waist nippers to butt enhancers. We pulled, we hoisted, we contorted, and we broke sweats as we recoiled from the harsh fluorescent lighting and three-way mirrors. Nothing seemed to do the entire trick—if a garment looked nice in the torso, it invariably squished our other ass-ets. We ended that day acutely aware of our figure flaws, yet inspired to create something that would nip and tuck in all the right places while still looking comely.

And thus our line of lust-worthy shapewear was born!
